Metal Air Cell
Metal air cell technology has been developed over 50 years, however, their use has not been widespreaded.
Recently, another era for re-emerging this technology has come to meet energy-hungry devices and energy storage systems.
High energy density, safety ans low-cost are major concern for the batteries and the fuel cells, now, only the metal air cells satisfy these requirements.
The conventional small metal air cells were not suitable for this new markets, because of their poor performance and costly process. However, MEET is preparing for this coming new era with much enhanced performance and low cost, from the better materials, the large cell fabrication technics and recycling technology of the metal fuels.
MEET will cultivate the market fields belong to med to large scale power units, by commercializing metal air systems with high energy density, and by acquiring economic values from the recycling techniques of metal fuels.
The MEET systems have been developed in the range of 100W ~ 1kW and will be in the higher range of 1-100kW in the future.
-
Power generator from air oxidation of metal fuel
-
High energy density
-
Refuelable by replacing metal fuels and electrolytes.
-
Long storage life in case of separating electrolyte
Metal air batteries are the power generators from metal oxidation by air in aqueous solutions. Metal anodes are consumable and leave metal oxides from th reaction. The major metal anodes are magnesium, aluminum and zinc. Their electrolytes are saltwater or alkaline solutions.
In general, the metal air systems exhibit high energy density beyoud the limit that could not be reached by conventional batteries, and expect the future power systems to meet energy-hungry devices.
