Energy storage is the very important technology in energy industry. Only 1% of the electrical energy generated in plants is stored via conventioal systems, hydropower, compressed air, vanadium redox flow battery, zinc bromide flow battery, sodium sulfur battery, Li-ion battery, Pb-acid battery and flywheel.

Zinc air battery has been studied to use as ESS from the basic idea- high energy density, low cost, and safety. However, there are several barriers to overcome for example, internal short by zinc dendrites,  low depth of discharge, and carbon dioxide contamination to alkaline electrolyte.
